Year, model, ride height and whether it runs. That is the whole conversation.

Luxury and exotic car transport is vehicle shipping built around a car that cannot be treated like freight: covered trailers, liftgate loading instead of a ramp angle, and a carrier screened before it is ever handed the keys. Dawley Logistics arranges it from Burlington, Wisconsin, and DS Brokerage, our sister company, places the covered equipment.

The cars exotic transport exists for
Owners around Burlington, Racine County and the wider southeast Wisconsin corridor book luxury car transport for the same handful of reasons every year.
- Exotics and supercars where a stone chip is a body-shop appointment
- Late-model performance cars on delivery miles
- Imported JDM builds arriving from a port or an out-of-state seller
- Lowered, coilover and widebody builds with no ramp clearance
- Garage-kept weekend cars moving to a second home
- Auction and online purchases that have never been driven by their owner
Six answers that set the trailer
Nothing about a luxury car transport booking is guessed. These six answers decide which trailer leaves Burlington and what the lane costs.
- Ride height
- Anything under roughly four inches of clearance wants a liftgate, not a ramp
- Modifications
- Splitters, widebody kits, aero and coilovers, declared before booking
- Condition
- Running is routine; a non-running collector car is fine when we know first
- Load size
- Covered trailers take up to seven vehicles, so lead time shapes the window
- Destination
- Gated communities, show fields and shop bays each need their own meeting plan
- Personal items
- Up to 100 lb of non-valuable items; wheels, tools and covers travel better in the trunk
A 1940 sedan is not a 2024 supercar, and it does not ship like one
Collector cars come with their own list: carburetors that do not like a cold start, bias-ply tires that flat-spot, drum brakes, no factory tie-down points, and a body panel nobody can replace. We ask about all of it before the trailer is booked, and the carrier is told the same thing we were told.
Plenty of classics ride open on our own nine-car haulers and arrive exactly as they left, so classic car transport does not automatically mean a covered trailer. Covered is the right call when the paint is fresh, the car is going to a judged field, or it simply will not tolerate a wet interstate. The same trailer takes a classic to a wedding or a private event.

Southeast Wisconsin is collector country. We load these out of home garages, storage units and restoration shops all year.
The difference shows up before the truck does
Dawley Logistics is a Burlington, Wisconsin carrier that later added a brokerage, not a phone bank that never owned a truck. That order matters most on exotic car transport, where the vehicle is irreplaceable.
We know what the lane costs
Roughly 90–95% of our loads move on our own open nine-car haulers out of Burlington. Sitting in that seat is why we can hear when a carrier is guessing about a route, a bridge or a delivery window.
Most carriers that apply never get a load
Every covered carrier is checked for licensing, operating authority, equipment, insurance and compliance before it is offered your vehicle. No double brokering, and the carrier we confirm is the carrier that arrives.
The quote survives the booking
No hidden fees, no renegotiation, no asterisk, even when securing covered equipment costs us more than we planned. The one condition is that the condition and modifications were disclosed.
Does your car actually need a covered trailer?
We will say no when the answer is no. Here is the honest split for a luxury or exotic vehicle leaving southeast Wisconsin.
Our own nine-car haulers
- The lower of the two prices, on Dawley equipment
- Fine for driver-grade classics, restomods and modern performance cars
- Exposed to weather and road spray, the same as driving the route
- Best availability on the Midwest corridor we work every week
Sealed, liftgate loaded
- No weather, road salt, dust or stone chips for the whole run
- Liftgate loading for splitters, coilovers and slammed builds
- The default for concours cars, fresh paint and new wraps
- Specialist equipment, so book it with lead time
Heading to a judged field, a track day or a rally instead of a driveway? That move has its own timing and its own paperwork — see car show and race car transport. Moving the whole household at once is vehicle relocation.
How an exotic car transport booking runs
-
Describe the car honestly
Clearance, modifications, whether it starts, and where it is sitting today.
-
One price comes back
Priced for what that lane and that equipment really move for. Nothing is booked until you say go.
-
Loading, with you there
Condition is photographed and written onto the bill of lading before a strap goes on.
-
The same walk at the drop
Same document, same panels. If anything is off we stop with the carrier and you have an action plan within 24 hours.
Shipping the car south for the winter rather than to a show? That is snowbird auto transport, and the same covered option applies. For everything we move out of Burlington, start at auto transport and car shipping.
Our own trucks work the Midwest corridor. The brokerage covers the rest.
Dawley Logistics is a carrier first, based in Burlington, Wisconsin. Our open nine-car haulers run Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit as the bread-and-butter lanes, with coverage across the Midwest plus Kentucky and Tennessee, roughly a 500-mile radius. Beyond that, DS Brokerage, our sister company, moves vehicles anywhere in the lower 48 on carriers we vet ourselves.
Questions about luxury and exotic car transport
What do you need to know about the car to pick the right trailer?
Six answers: ride height, since anything under roughly four inches of clearance wants a liftgate rather than a ramp; modifications such as splitters, widebody kits, aero and coilovers; whether it runs; how many vehicles share the load, because covered trailers take up to seven and lead time shapes the window; the destination, since gated communities, show fields and shop bays each need their own meeting plan; and what rides inside, up to 100 lb of non-valuable items.
How many vehicles fit on an enclosed trailer?
Up to seven, with liftgate loading for low-clearance cars. Enclosed moves run through DS Brokerage on carriers we vet ourselves.
Who is actually driving my car?
A carrier we screened on authority, equipment, insurance and compliance, or one of our own haulers — and we tell you which. The load is never resold to whoever answers a board.
Someone quoted me far less for a covered move. Why?
On covered equipment that gap is almost always a number written before anyone checked whether a trailer would take the lane, and it gets revised after you have committed. We quote the real figure once and live with it.
Are you insured?
Yes. Our own trucks carry adequate, industry-leading coverage, and every brokered carrier is required to carry coverage before it is assigned a load.
What happens if my vehicle is damaged?
We pause the process with the carrier and document the damage against the bill of lading with you. Dawley mediates the claim, and you have an action plan within 24 hours, usually sooner.
How do I know where my car is?
Call or text Jeremy or the carrier and a real person answers with the update. Tracking software is coming; today the update comes from someone who knows where the truck is.
