What is dealership auto transport?

Dealership auto transport is wholesale vehicle movement between rooftops, auction blocks and manufacturer lots rather than a single retail delivery. Dawley Logistics runs that work out of Burlington, Wisconsin as a carrier, so the truck under your inventory is usually ours.

What rides on a dealer run

A wholesale move is priced and planned around the deck, not around one car. These are the working limits on our equipment.

Who books it

The accounts that keep this lane busy

Most dealership auto transport bookings we take around Burlington, Racine County and the wider southeast Wisconsin market fall into one of these:

  • Franchise and independent rooftops trading units across Racine, Kenosha and Walworth counties
  • Wholesale buyers clearing purchases from Midwest auction venues
  • OEM and manufacturer lot releases heading to assigned dealers
  • Inventory rebalancing between stores before a model-year changeover
  • Remarketed rental and company units moving into retail stock
  • Sold units being delivered from your lot to a buyer out of state
Auction pickups

Most dealer runs start at a block, not a showroom

Auction lots run on gate releases and storage clocks, so a late truck turns into a fee before anyone calls you about it. We schedule the pickup against the release, not against a hopeful window.

Give us the buyer number, the lot location and the release status when you book, and the driver arrives with what the gate wants to see.

Venues we collect from
  • Manheim
  • ADESA
  • Copart
  • America's Best Auto Auction
  • Insurance auctions
  • Independent blocks

Venue names are pickup points only. We are not affiliated with any auction company.

Why it holds together

A carrier books this differently than a broker does

Dawley Logistics started hauling before it ever brokered a load. That order matters when a rooftop is waiting on units.

On our own deck

Most of your units ride on our equipment

Roughly 90–95% of what we move goes on Dawley open nine-car haulers working the Midwest corridor. Nobody has to guess what the lane costs or how long it takes.

Screened before dispatch

Three in four outside carriers never get the load

When a run goes to a partner carrier, DS Brokerage checks licensing, operating authority, equipment, insurance and compliance first. About 75% do not clear it.

Quoted per unit

The number survives the booking

No hidden fees, no renegotiation once a truck is assigned, even when securing capacity costs us more. The condition: tell us each unit’s condition and any modifications.

One trade or a standing lane

How your volume changes the booking

A one-off swap and a weekly inventory lane are quoted and scheduled differently. Here is the honest split.

Single unit or trade

Booked run by run

  • Priced per unit against what the lane is actually moving for
  • Pickup usually lands same day to three days out
  • Fits dealer trades, sold-unit deliveries and one auction buy
  • Rides open unless the unit’s value calls for a covered trailer
Open-deck transport for dealer units
Recurring volume

Planned as a lane

  • Built for accounts moving 100 to 500 vehicles on a repeating schedule
  • Decks planned around your release days instead of one-off calls
  • Fits OEM programs, rental remarketing and multi-store groups
  • One contact who already knows your lots and your paperwork
Fleet & commercial transport

Not sure which side you are on yet? Describe the next 30 days of movement on the phone and we will tell you whether it is worth setting up as a lane. Auction and dealer pickups around Chicago are everyday work for these trucks.

Pickup to rooftop

How a dealer move actually runs

  1. You send the list

Lot locations, destinations, VIN count, release status and anything that does not run.

  2. You get a price per unit

Quoted against what the lane moves for. Nothing is dispatched until you confirm it.

  3. The deck is loaded at the lot

Each unit is walked and written up on the bill of lading before it goes up on the rack.

  4. Your rooftop signs it off

Same document, same walkaround. If something is off, we pause with the carrier and you get an action plan inside 24 hours.

Pickup and delivery both typically run same day to three days out, depending on the lane. For the full range of services behind this one, see auto transport and car shipping from Burlington.

Where we run

Our own trucks work the Midwest corridor. The brokerage covers the rest.

Dawley Logistics is a carrier first, based in Burlington, Wisconsin. Our open nine-car haulers run Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit as the bread-and-butter lanes, with coverage across the Midwest plus Kentucky and Tennessee, roughly a 500-mile radius. Beyond that, DS Brokerage, our sister company, moves vehicles anywhere in the lower 48 on carriers we vet ourselves.

Questions about dealership auto transport

Which auctions do you pick up from?

Manheim, Copart and other dealer and insurance auctions, delivered straight to your lot.

What size accounts do you work with?

Recurring accounts that consistently need vehicles moved, including OEM, dealer, auction, rental and construction fleets moving 100 to 500 vehicles along the Midwest corridor.

How fast can you pick up?

Usually same day to three days out, and delivery runs the same, depending on the lane.

Who actually shows up for a dealer run?

Our own hauler on most runs. When a partner carrier is used, it is the carrier we confirmed to you — not a load reposted to whoever answers a board first.

Will the price change after I book?

No. The number we quote is the number you pay, even if it costs us more to secure the carrier. The one condition: the vehicle’s condition and any modifications have to be disclosed when you book. No hidden fees, no negotiation, no asterisk.

What happens if a unit shows damage at the drop?

It goes on the bill of lading at delivery with your receiver present. We pause with the carrier, mediate the claim, and put an action plan in front of you within 24 hours.

How do I check on a load in transit?

Call or text and a person who knows where the truck is answers. Dedicated tracking software is coming; today the update comes from Jeremy or the driver.
